Percussion

The Lexington High School Percussion Ensemble was created in 2001 as an indoor percussion performance group. Since then the Lexington Percussion Ensemble has won the Carolina Indoor Performance Association Championship, appeared as a semi-finalist in the Winter Guard International World Championships in Datyon, Ohio, performed as a concert group in the Winter Guard International Florida Regional, and appeared in Tennessee and South Carolina WGI Regional Finals. Percussion Ensemble is a continuation of fall marching band, with emphasis on technique and musicality. The nationally recognized front ensemble and battery rehearse several hours a week as soon as the fall marching season is completed and continues to compete in local, regional, and national events.

Percussion Techniques is a college prep and honors level course that is required for all percussionists in the Lexington High School Bands. Percussion Techniques takes place 4th block first semester for 90 minutes every day. While the class is used to prepare for marching band, emphasis is heavily placed on creating well-rounded percussionists.
